Product Category

A Product Category is a product-level category in which Actualog can create products. It is the concrete product class that supplies the rules used to describe, validate, name, compare, identify, and group those products.

A product belongs to one Product Category. Structural parent categories organize the taxonomy but do not directly host products.

What the category defines

A Product Category can define or inherit:

  • the effective attribute template;
  • required and optional attribute rules;
  • data types, lists, measurement rules, and validation;
  • Product Name Template;
  • Group and Variant identity attributes;
  • Specification-defined or Brand-defined identity mode;
  • variant axes;
  • product lifecycle defaults and governance context.

Identity and variants

Group-level identity attributes define a standalone product or the shared identity of a group of variants. Variant-level attributes identify one concrete variant inside the group. Actualog stores deterministic identity hashes from those rules.

Company data

Companies connect to products and categories through explicit relationships. Company Product Overlay is not implemented in the current application.
